Yesterday, I joined Aspen Athletic Club so that I could get out of the house to work out no matter what the weather. Lately, with snow piled up on the ground and the temperatures not rising much above 32 degrees, I haven't been able to get out and run, walk, or bike. I haven't been sitting on my butt doing nothing though. Exercise -- on a regular basis -- is extremely important to me, and I make it a commitment to work out every week day. However, I can only handle so many jumping jacks in my living room. I get bored doing the same thing over and over and over again. I was losing my enthusiasm to work out, so I knew I needed a change to keep my drive.
Thankfully, Aspen had a deal yesterday where you could join for just $13. So now, I can go use their bikes, treadmills, stair climbers, elipticals, and several other pieces of equipment I had never seen before, all at 5 am! Plus, I can get in some strength training, either with machines or free weights. I also decided that I might like to try out some of the various classes they offer. I can try out a different one each day, if I want. Or, I can take the girls with me and let them play at the Kids' Club while I participate in an evening class on those nights when Lawrence has grad school and doesn't get home until late.
I guess I was so excited about the opportunity to go and work out that I couldn't even sleep last night. I woke up to go to the bathroom and thought it was time for me to head out to the gym. I went to get my socks on and glanced over at the clock. 11:52. Apparently, I was a little too eager! I climbed back into bed and tried to fall asleep, but I never really did rest that deeply. Having Coralyn come into bed with us around 2 am didn't help matters much, nor did Kellah being up from 2:45-3:45! I am sure there will be mornings when I don't feel like rolling out of bed and driving to the gym at 5 am, but this morning was not one of those days. I was up before my alarm and out the door with a smile on my face!
Even though I have been exercising on a daily basis, using actual equipment other than my 3-pound dumbbells felt sooooo invigorating! Granted, I would prefer running outside over feeling like a hamster on a treadmill. BUT, I will definitely take running on a treadmill in a temperature-controlled facility over braving the wind and cold outside. I am excited to get back into the routine and try out some new things through the various classes available. I am hoping to make some friends along the way. We did, after all, move so that we could reach out into the community and be a light. Well, I plan on shining while I sweat at Aspen!
Just a second, you might be thinking.
Don't you sell those crazy wraps?
Aren't they supposed to make you all skinny and stuff?
Why in the world then do you need to go and work out?!
No, you don't have me confused with someone else. Yes, I do sell those crazy wraps, along with a host of other health and wellness products -- vitamins, greens, metabolism booster, fat fighters, stress relievers, protein powders, and so much more! All made with natural ingredients to help our bodies perform at their peak, the way nature intended.
So, why then, am I still so passionate about exercising? Why is working out so important to me, to the point that I get up in time to be at the gym when the doors open at 5 am?!
Because a wrap cannot replace working out. Nor should you think, "I can eat whatever I want. I don't have to count calories or make super healthy choices. I can just wrap to get thin!"
While a wrap does seemingly have "magical powers," it is not a quick-fix solution. If you want to really have results that last, if you want a body that is truly tight, tone, and firm, then you will need to follow up your wrapping with some exercise and healthy eating. LIFESTYLE is key! In selling wraps, I am in no way trying to convince you that you don't need to be active, think about what you put in your mouth, make good choices, or anything along those lines. Far from it!
Instead, I am doing my best to emphasize the good things the wrap can do -- tighten, tone, firm, hydrate, moisturize, and smooth your skin; reduce the appearance of cellulite and varicose veins; help break up fat cells and eliminate toxins; reduce inflammation and improve circulation. Those are all wonderful things! They all help you improve or maintain your health.
However, if you expect the amazing results of wrapping to last, then you will want to implement exercise and healthy eating into your daily routine. It's got to be a way of LIFE! Just like if you had cosmetic surgery, you would be sure that you took excellent care of your face afterwards. Or, if you had gastric bypass or a lap band procedure, you would want to eat right and work out to maintain your new, healthier body. In the same way, after you wrap, you should be encouraged and inspired by the physical changes you see. Those immediate changes should motivate you to MAINTAIN OVERALL GOOD HEALTH.
So, why even bother to wrap in the first place if I still have to work out and eat right? Several reasons, actually. First, the wrap can definitely help you with your health journey, no matter where you may be. Perhaps you already eat right and exercise fairly consistently, but you get frustrated or discouraged that you don't see any physical changes. Maybe you want to call in quits, thinking that all that hard work you are doing isn't making a difference. Or maybe you have tried "being healthy" before and it didn't turn out so good, so you don't want to even bother with it all again. You don't want to fail, so why even try? Perhaps, you are in pretty good health, but just have one or two "trouble areas" that don't seem to go away no matter how many hours you spend on the treadmill or how many salads you eat. A wrap can help you see an immediate difference in your body and inspire, motivate, encourage you to keep on going and to keep working to reach your health goals, whatever they may be!
Second, no matter where you are, a wrap can help you in ways that you can't really help yourself. The natural ingredients not only help to transform your outer appearance, but more significantly, they help to make changes on the INSIDE of your body. By breaking up fat cells and eliminating toxins, your body will be better able to perform at its peak. Any inflammation you may have had will be reduced, your circulation will be improved, and as a result your blood flow will improve and you will have more energy to boot.
So you see, the wrap is beneficial! And so is working out and eating right. They go hand in hand. That is why I can maintain my passion for exercise and healthy eating while still feeling confident about selling these crazy wrap things!
I hope you hear my heart!
